After an incident on stage between Utrecht coach Henk Fraser and Amin Younes Fraser himself decided to leave. He was startled by his outburst of anger. “I didn’t recognize myself,” he said.

FC Utrecht has confirmed the departure of coach Henk Fraser. The coach himself canceled the collaboration because of “cross-border behaviour.” Last Saturday, an incident took place on the training ground and he allegedly grabbed German player Amin Younes by the throat.

“This has never happened to me as a coach. It doesn’t suit me and it doesn’t suit the club. I have damaged the club with this and that hurts many, including me,” Fraser said on the club’s website. “That’s why I made the choice to leave. I do not recognize myself in my actions and would like to apologize to everyone involved.”

The 56-year-old Fraser was in his first season at FC Utrecht. He and his team were in seventh place in the Eredivisie.
