While the 2022 season is now behind us, the ATP has released several statistics including that of the fastest serve of the year.
And against all odds, it was the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina who was the author of the most powerful first ball of the season with a missile flashed at no less than 252 km / h, in the second round of the Masters 1000 in Rome. 31e in the world is fairly well ahead of Reilly Opelka and his compatriot Bernabe Zapata (237 km/h each).
A ranking that will surprise more than one when Davidovich Fokina is not really known to be an outstanding server.
Note that according to the history of the ATP, this service is even the second fastest in history behind the almost unbeatable Australian Sam Groth and his 263 km/h.
