Cenace declares a state of emergency: there are three days of damage – El Sol de México

The National Energy Control Center (Cenace) declared an operational state of emergency due to high levels of demand this Thursday afternoon.

At 3:02 p.m. the operational state of alert began in the National Interconnected System; However, for the second time this week, at 6:47 p.m., the agency had to activate the state of emergency after the energy reserve fell below the reserve limit to satisfy demand.

Until 8:30 p.m., power outages were recorded in Aguascalientes, Zacatecas, Querétaro and Hidalgo, making it three days in a row with blackouts in different parts of the Republic.

According to the Cenace portal, the maximum energy demand for the day nationwide was 49,031 megawatts, above the forecast demand which was 48,617 megawatts.

The emergency occurs a few hours after Cenace issued an operational state of alert, the purpose of which is to warn that energy consumption is approaching the reserve limit percentage to satisfy the demand in the country.

According to analysts, the risk that blackouts will continue is latent given the increase in temperature in the country, which leads the population to use more electrical devices such as air conditioners and fans.
