The fragment starts with a seemingly distraught national coach Didier Deschamps. He paces through the dressing room and tries to confront his players with the facts. “They play a World Cup final, we don’t”, Deschamps fulminates, referring to the deficit (2-0) and the easy way of playing of the French.

Kylian Mbappé also takes the floor. He is still trying to cheer up his teammates. “This is the match of our lives, you only play it once. But we can’t do worse”, said a sharp Mbappé in a very quiet dressing room. “They scored twice, now we are going to score twice. We return!”

Mbappé would keep his word. France returned, even twice, but finally had to bow their heads after extra time after taking penalties.
