The Medina half marathon will be named after the Agustín García Manzano “Chapi” Memorial

The Medina del Campo city council recognized the sporting merits of the local people and entities at a gala held on Friday night at the Hotel Villa de Ferias. At the event, the mayor of the town, Guzmán Gómez, announced that the next edition of the Medina del Campo half marathon will bear the name of the Agustín García Manzano “Chapi” Memorial.

On this occasion, the El Duque Fencing Club, has been awarded the Senior Men’s Sword team, made up of Adrián Yáñez, Diego Balmori, Daniel Hernández, Jesús Limardo, Ovidiu Parvuleasa and the coach José Cruz Alonso Temiño.

Likewise, the CDM has added recognition thanks to one of its members: Miguel Ángel Sastre Garrote, “Mena”. Meanwhile, the Gimnástica Medinense was also distinguished through one of its coaches: Eduardo García Egido “Gato”.

On the other hand, the Medinense Swimming Club, led by swimmer Hugo Puche Carrión, has won another award. An award was also given to the Sarabris club in the person of the former player and coach; Luis Carlos Salcedo Sanchez. Thus, Santos Francisco Santa Elena has been recognized as coach of the Castillo de la Mota Athletics Club.

In the Best Sponsor section, the award went to JJ Cocinas, current sponsor of CD Sarabris and, finally, the Special Mention Awards went to the athlete, Sergio Juárez Nieto; badminton player Pablo Martín Castañeda; the former athlete and athletics and soccer coach Jesús Cuadrado Pino and posthumously the popular runner, Agustín García Manzano «Chapi».
