The Latvian sports dance couple wins the gold medal for the second time at the world championship for juniors / Diena

A few weeks ago in Portugal, Richards Krivins and Marija Golubeva won gold in 10 dances (5 ST dances + 5 Latin American dances), but now they have done the same in the ST dance world championship held in the capital of Bulgaria. The second title came in an even fiercer battle.

The couple from the “Dace Dance School” together with the Bulgarians Aleksa Kostadinova and Ivelina Karcheva were considered the main favorites to win. In the first dance in the Slow Waltz, the home team convincingly won the first place, but from then on, everything turned out very well for Latvia’s leading junior couple. Krivins and Golubeva received the best score in three of the five dances – Tango, Viennese Waltz and the decisive dance Quickstep, thus winning the overall victory.

This year, Richard and Maria won medals in all dance programs, as they earned bronze in Latin American dance. Before that, Latvia was represented in the final for juniors in ST dances seven years ago, when Ričards Šteinfelds and Laura Bernāte from Talsi won the 6th place in Moldova. On the other hand, the last time the Latvian couple won the world junior ST dance championship in 2006, when Ronalds Ābols and Santa Wittenberga remained undefeated in “Arena Rīga”.

Our second couple, Klāvs Riemers-Silarājs and Patrīcija Mariņakas, have completed the world championship very successfully. They also reached the top six and won the 5th place, thus dancing in the final for both couples of “Dace dance school”. Klaav and Patricia had a very similar point-to-point battle with the Poles. In addition to the Latvian pairs, Lithuania was also represented in the final from the Baltics, with Pranas Mitkum and Justa Jančiunaite getting the bronze medal.
