The only fourteen-year-old Enzo Tarnvanichkul received his cup for the kart championship from Max Verstappen last week during the prestigious FIA prize gala. Both gentlemen work in the Red Bull stable and the young Thai talent therefore has a lot to do with Helmut Marko. The teenager stands up for the often described as strictly Austrian.
Marko has been working as an advisor within the Red Bull stable for many years and the Austrian has a big finger in the pie when it comes to youth academy and the flow of the youth classes towards the possible main force of Red Bull. Men like Sebastian Vettel, Daniil Kvyat, Daniel Ricciardo and of course Verstappen managed to develop into fully-fledged Formula 1 drivers under his reign. In that role, however, Marko would often be described as strict.
Bange Algersuari
One of the gentlemen who once opened a book about Marko’s iron hand is Jaime Algersuari. The Spanish former driver, now active as a DJ, revealed a few traumatic experiences of his own a few months ago and indicated that he still suffers from them. “I still have very strange dreams from that time when I sleep. I always see Mr. Marko angry, beating me up like I’m a child. It’s really traumatic,” he said about his collaboration with the Austrian at the time.
Inspirational figure
They are completely different stories than what Tarnvanichkul tells after receiving his cup from Verstappen. The Thai is only positive about Marko and associates. “He’s a great and inspiring figure when you meet him. Television can sometimes mislead you. When you meet him in real life, it’s very special. That’s how I felt. At the end of the day, everyone just wants to win and that creates extra pressure Having a company like Red Bull on your car is more fun, but also creates extra pressure because you represent the company,” concludes the 14-year-old talent.
