Spanish badminton will fight for two golds in El Salvador

Spanish badminton once again takes center stage in a day of finals, this time in San Salvador. And it is that Ania Setién and the mixed doubles of Setién herself and Joan Monroy have passed their semifinals and will fight for the gold of El Salvador International.

Ania Setién has again shown all his potential to ensure his presence in the battle for gold. It should be remembered that Setién comes from winning the title of the Ibero-American Championship played just a few days ago in Guadalajara (Mexico). On this occasion, she Setién has managed to get into the final thanks to her victory against the Mexican Vanessa Maricela García Contreras by 21-13 and 21-18.

Setién is also shining alongside Joan Monroy in the mixed doubles event. After having achieved bronze in the Ibero-American Championship, the duo formed by the San Sebastian and the Catalan has overcome the Peruvians Diego Mini and Paula La Torre to get into the final. The match was more disputed than the score may reflect (16-21, 21-16 and 21-12) and finally fell to the Spanish side.

Fortune was not on the side of the men’s doubles team led by Carlos Piris and Joan Monroy this time, who lost fighting against the Czechs Ondřej Král and Adam Mendrek (22-20 and 12-21). The Spaniards entered the match well and were close to taking the first set, but it fell to Kral and Mendrek. The outcome of this first game has given confidence to the Czechs, who have taken advantage of the inertia to sentence the game.
