Rebellion of youth. Figure skater Březinová has not won the MČR after six years

Olympian Březinová struggled with jumping uncertainty in Friday’s short program and Saturday’s free ride. Although she attacked her season’s best in the free ride, with a total mark of 152.41 points, she was more than eleven points behind her ten-year-younger competitor.

Vránková, who was seventeenth at the Junior World Championships in the spring, performed the performance of her life in the freestyle. In the total, she improved her personal record by almost eighteen points to 163.65 and in the international ranking she jumped from sixth place after the short program to second place. She was beaten only by Poland’s Ekaterina Kurakov, the fifth woman at the last EC.

Unsurprisingly, the dance couple competitions ended, in which the Czech representatives dominated the absolute evaluation. Natálie and Filip Taschler reigned supreme in the adult category, while other siblings Kateřina and Daniel Mrázka won among the juniors. In contrast to their recent bronze appearance in the final of the Junior Grand Prix, they avoided falls in both races and improved the mark from Turin by more than eleven points.

The men’s title in Budapest was won by Petr Kotlařík, who beat Georgie Reshtenka by less than thirteen points. He took fourth place overall. In sports pairs, the Czechia was represented only thanks to Milan natives Federica Simioliová and Alessandro Zarbo. They recently started representing the Czech Republic, because Zarbo also has Czech citizenship. In the two-person competition, they finished second behind the Hungarian representatives Mária Pavlova and Aleksei Sviatchenko. The best Czech couple Jelizaveta Žuková and Martin Bidař did not start at the international championship of the Czech Republic due to family reasons.
