After a good start to the season, things are not going well for former BVB star Jadon Sancho (22/has been playing for Manchester United since summer 2021).

When asked by a Sky reporter whether there was an update on Jadon Sancho, coach Erik Ten Hag (52) answered very briefly on Wednesday evening after the League Cup win against Burnley: “No.” He doesn’t want to talk about it any further.

Der Fall Sancho!

Jadon Sancho enchanted Dortmund, and that at the age of 17. The Englishman came to Borussia in 2017 and left “Schwarz-Gelb” last summer with impressive numbers: 137 games for BVB, 50 goals, 64 assists.

Manchester United paid 85 million euros for the youngster!

And now? Around 18 months later, Sancho’s medium-term future is in the stars for the time being.

The winger is currently unable to train with ManUnited. He was not present at the Red Devils training camp in Spain. Instead, he works on his fitness away from the public eye in Holland at amateur club OJC Rosmalen. His trainer Erik ten Hag had advised him to take this step.

Ten Hag explained about a week ago: “I’ve had several conversations with Jadon and I don’t think he will return this week. Our goal is to bring him back as soon as possible. But I can’t predict when that will be. Sometimes a player’s fitness fluctuates, and so does their mood. We have a loss of quality level and sometimes you don’t know exactly where that comes from.”

Ten Hag on Sancho’s current condition: “He wasn’t fit enough to take part in the training camp in Spain. It’s a combination of physical and mental issues.”

One can only speculate about the reasons: A late consequence of the European Championship in your own country? As a reminder, the final at Wembley against Italy on July 11, 2021…

Jadon Sancho and club colleague Marcus Rashford are substituted on for penalties and fail from the point – as does the third youngster Bukayo Saka. Italy celebrates, England cries.

In the hours and days after the lost final, the three tragic penalty shooters were violently attacked on social networks, sometimes even racially insulted.

In the meantime, Sancho has closed his accounts on Instagram, Twitter and Co. to concentrate on his career and his family, as reported by the English media.

The former BVB talent played his last game for United on October 22nd. He was not nominated for the English team at the World Cup in Qatar. While Marcus Rashford played a good World Cup and Bukayo Saka was also in the Three Lions squad, the third youngster who will never forget Wembley 2021 is fighting for his comeback.

Jadon Sancho has recorded a total of 10 appearances and two goals in the Premier League this season. After a good start to the season, ten Hag noticed the drop in performance and took the youngster out of the squad – due to illness, as it was initially said. He’s only played for England against Andorra since the EURO…

Ten Hag: “We noticed a drop in quality at Jadon, that happens sometimes. We don’t know what is causing this. We are in analysis, we want to help him and bring him back to his old top level.”
