‘One with a shuttlecock’… Multicultural Family Badminton Festival ‘Hot’

[신문고뉴스] Reporter Kim Seung-ho = Goyang Special Case Mayor Lee Dong-hwan encouraged the participating players at the 2022 National Multicultural Family Badminton Competition held at the Goyang Gymnasium on the 10th.

This competition was held to form a bond and communicate through sports, and 370 multicultural families from all over the country participated and showed off their honed skills.

The event was attended by many figures, including Goyang Special City Council Chairman Kim Young-sik and Democratic Party Chairman Shim Myung-soon and Goyang-gap Chairman of the Democratic Party.

The match was divided into general singles (men and women), couples doubles, youth singles (men and women), and youth divisions, and was held from the preliminary round to the final on the same day.

Prior to the main game, an exhibition match was held by the Yonex badminton team.

After Shin Kang-min (14, Goyang, Gyeonggi-do), who competed in the youth men’s singles, took the oath on behalf of the team, the participants did light warm-up exercises and then began to demonstrate their skills in earnest.

Considering that the event was attended by a large number of people, the organizers put all their efforts into safety by arranging disaster safety managers on site.

There are also event booths such as origami for children of participants such as preschoolers.

The honor of winning the doubles division went to the couple Hong-Min Son (52) and Boo-Young Seon (32) from Osan, Gyeonggi Province. They said, “I didn’t expect much and I emptied my mind, but good results came out.”

Im Eun-goo (50, Yeongju, North Gyeongsang Province) won the men’s singles championship, and Emelita (33, Gimje, North Jeolla Province) from the Philippines won the women’s singles championship.

The singles and doubles winners received 700,000 won and 500,000 won respectively.
