Olympique Lyon apparently wants to get rid of Jérôme Boateng for free

Jérôme Boateng is on the verge of extinction at Olympique Lyon. how Footmercato reports, the traditional French club is actively working on getting rid of the 34-year-old early this winter.

The report states that Lyon are keen to get Boateng off the payroll as early as January and are therefore ready to hand him over on a free transfer despite a contract that runs until the summer of 2023. The first talks between Boateng’s advisors and an unnamed interested party are said to have already taken place.

Boateng has made 31 competitive appearances for the club since his transfer to OL 2021. The veteran got two assists. However, he has only played in four games this season.

Boateng made his breakthrough at Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV before moving to Manchester City in 2010 for 12.5 million euros. A year later, FC Bayern brought him back to the Bundesliga for a similar sum. From then on he played for the Reds for ten years and celebrated great success with them.
