Mirabel, Quebec, December 10, 2022 – Miguel Cienfuegos was yesterday in his fifth start of the season with his team the Adelaide Giants of the Australian Baseball League… and he won a third victory, he who still has no loss on his record (3-0).

The Quebec left-handed gunner did well again, only giving up two points to his rivals in six innings of work.

The star pitcher of the Capitales de Québec of the Frontier League at home allowed only three hits to opposing hitters… Two of those hits were his first two home runs of the season, the two strikes having been slammed in second sleeve.

After giving up those two runs, Cienfuegos came back strong allowing only one runner to reach base in the 4.2 innings he was on the mound thereafter.

The 2022 Canadian Pitcher of the Year in Independent Baseball was in perfect control of his pitches in the game. He made 69 shots at home plate and 48 of them were strikes, for an efficiency rate of 69.5%!

After being voted “Pitcher of the Year” at the Capitales de Québec, “Pitcher of the Year” and “Starting Pitcher from the year” in the Frontier League and “Canadian Pitcher of the Year in Independent Baseball”, now he is concocting a record of three wins against no losses in five starts in the Australian Professional Baseball League!

The two runs Cienfuegos gave up in the second set seemed to whip his teammates on offense… who rebounded with four runs as soon as they returned to bat late in the second set, taking the lead in the game for good.

At the end of the second inning, the other Quebec baseball player on the team, Anthony Quirion hit a double as the second batter of the recovery. His shot allowed one of his teammates to reach third base and score his team’s first point in the game a few shots later.

Then Quirion, a prospect for the Philadelphia Phillies of the major leagues, brought himself to the paying plate, tying the matchup 2-2.

Quirion finished that game as the designated hitter with a 1-for-3 record and one run scored. His two-goal shot was his fifth of the season, and he also posted five home runs with the Giants.

The Adelaide squad finally won 11-2, thus signing their 11th consecutive victory, thus equaling the league record in this regard.

Giants set new Australian Tour record
Then, the team of two Quebec baseball players set a new record in the Australian Baseball League by winning their 12th straight victory in the second game of the doubleheader.

They thus erased the record of 11 consecutive victories established in 2011 by the Heat of Perth.

The Giants had to wait until the very end of the confrontation to savor their victory! Indeed, they trailed 0-3 when they came on for their eighth at bat of the game.

Anthony Quirion, who served as receiver for the matchup, drove in his team’s first run in the eighth. He hit a single when the trails were all busy.
