Mets retain Brandon Nimmo

NEW YORK.- The Mets retained free agent center fielder Brandon Nimmo to an eight-year, $162 million deal and also upgraded their bullpen by agreeing to a one-year, $10 million deal with right-handed reliever David Robertson.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand was the first to break the news. The club has not confirmed either of the two agreements.

Nimmo has spent his entire career with the Mets, hitting .269/.385/.441 with 62 home runs and 213 RBIs in 608 games.

The 29-year-old played in 151 games this past season and posted a 5.0 WAR (Baseball-Reference) for New York, posting a .274/.367/.433 offensive line with 16 home runs and 102 runs scored.
