Mattias Ekstrom ahead of Sébastien Loeb in the car

The Dakar 2023 rally-raid started this Saturday with the prologue. Swede Mattias Ekstrom beat Frenchman Sébastien Loeb.

Swede Mattias Ekstrom won the Dakar 2023 prologue on Saturday in his hybrid Audi, a 13 km loop around a camp set up on the shores of the Red Sea in Saudi Arabia, with a time of 8 minutes.

Frenchman Sébastien Loeb, 2nd in the 2022 edition, placed his Prodrive Hunter in second place, a second behind, followed by his compatriot Stéphane Peterhansel (Audi).

The winner of the 2022 edition, the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota), is in 4th place at 12 seconds, closely followed by Guerlain Chicherit (FRA / Prodrive) and Carlos Sainz (ESP / Audi).

The Dakar 2023 rally-raid started this Saturday for two weeks and more than 8,000 km in the sands of Saudi Arabia, for the fourth consecutive year.
