According to others, it was like an honor that Messi was allowed to wear a bisht – that’s what it’s called. Because in the Arab world that garment has been worn on special occasions for thousands of years.
A lawyer from Oman is now offering $1 million for the bisht Messi wore.
“I was in the stadium and saw live how the Emir of Qatar gave Messi the bisht,” said Ahmed al-Barwani, a lawyer and member of parliament from Oman. “That was a special moment.”
“I offer you, Lionel Messi, 1 million dollars for the bisht,” al-Barwani addresses the Argentine superstar.
The lawyer does not intend to wear the robe himself. “I would like to put it on display so that we can relive that moment of pride. It will continue to remind us that we can achieve anything.”
