WHAT HAPPENED? An offer worth $1 million has been made for Argentina captain Lionel Messi to ditch the Arab robes [bisht] which he wore when he lifted the 2022 World Cup trophy in Qatar.

It was an Omani lawyer and member of parliament, Ahmed Al Barwani, who dared to make such a big bid for the bisht worn by Messi.

WHAT IS SAYING? On social media, Al Barwani made the offer: “From the Sultanate of Oman, I congratulate 2022 World Cup winner Qatar. Arab Bisht, symbol of decency and wisdom. I offer you a million dollars [£829 ribu atau setara Rp. 15,5 miliar] in return for the bisht. I was in the stadium watching the moment live when the Emir of Qatar gave Messi a bisht.”

“That moment tells the world that we are here, this is our culture, please know well.
