After one quarter of a regular season, the Nets’ strengths and weaknesses are pretty glaring. To fill the biggest gap in the workforce at the start of the season, GM Sean Marks would have a big name in mind, who is also available on the market.
After a rather chaotic start to the year, the Nets are back in good shape and they finally show a positive record with 12 wins for 11 losses. I was told that the Nets had indeed had contact with the Hawks regarding John Collins. It’s interesting since the Nets need help on the inside and he just might help. I don’t know how far the negotiations went, but we have to keep an eye on it.
For several years now, the Hawks have been thinking of exchanging John Collins, who does not necessarily have the profile to flourish behind a player as imposing as Trae Young, and this is an even truer observation since the arrival of Dejounte Murray . Excellent at the start of his career and close to the All-Star Game in 2020, the interior is in full decline this season with only 12.3 points and 7.5 rebounds on average. A fresh start seems to be the best solution.
That’s good, Brooklyn desperately needs help in the racket, with a player who could solve the problems on the rebound and especially put points behind Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. When confident, Collins can easily shoot 20 points 10 rebounds, which would be a real luxury for the Nets. When we know that Atlanta lacks triggers, Joe Harris and Seth Curry could easily do the trick in the negotiations…
The Nets are looking for an interior capable of spreading the game and taking rebounds, John Collins could be the perfect recruit to allow this workforce to move into another dimension. It remains to be seen what the Hawks will ask in return.
