Indian Wells will host a youth tournament parallel to its Masters/WTA 1000 tournaments from 2023 – Match Tennis

The organization of BNP Paribas Open, better known as the Masters 1000 y WTA 1000 de Indian Wellshas several innovations in mind for what will be its 2023 edition, and one of them is the inclusion of a youth event during the second week of the tournament.

In a press release, the event announced that the first BNP Paribas Open Junior Championships which will have the Grade 1 category of the ITF youth circuit, although for the moment it will only be reserved for American and Canadian players, with the aim of expanding to any nationality in 2024.

For the tournament it is an opportunity to “to offer up-and-coming junior tennis players the chance to play alongside the pros,” as well as an additional experience for fans by being able to see more tennis. This is in addition to multiple activities that will be prepared for next year, including the creation of a ‘Family day’, a greater gastronomic offer and different activities led by the sponsors of the event.
