Hamburg Towers end losing streak against Tel Aviv

Hamburg (dpa / lno) – The Hamburg Towers have ended their negative run after six competitive defeats. The basketball Bundesliga team defeated the Israeli club Hapoel Vegan Friendly Tel Aviv in extra time in the Eurocup on Wednesday evening with 98:91 (84:84, 36:37). Hamburg’s most successful shooter was Yoeli Childs with 20 points. The Hamburgers have an interim record of three wins and four defeats in the group phase.

The Towers got off to a good start and ended the first quarter 25:16, but couldn’t build on that in the second period and only scored eleven points. The guests from Israel, who were supported by around 1000 fans who had traveled with them, went into the break with a 37:36. Tel Aviv also proved to be more accurate in the third quarter and extended the lead to 62:57. In the final quarter, the Towers led 84:82 until 26 seconds before the end of the game, before the guests equalized and the game went into overtime. In extra time, Hamburg scored twice as many points as Tel Aviv with 14 points.

The North Germans will play their next game in the Bundesliga on December 18 against the Rostock Seawolves. The next game in the Eurocup will take place on December 21 against Gran Canaria.
