Guillaume Toucoullet aims for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

Following a motorcycle accident, his left arm was paralyzed, but his passion for sport led him to take up rowing again, this time in the disabled sports team. He ended up joining the French team in 2013 and won the national championships in 2014 and 2015.

Archery, Guillaume Toucoullet meets it a little by chance, during a forum of associations. “I’m hyperactive, I need to exercise a lot. So at first glance, archery was not for me. But the power, the precision, the determination and the requirement that archery demands really pleased me. Every arrow is important. You have to clear your mind, be calm and have confidence in yourself and your equipment,” says the para-athlete.

Thanks to a leather tab attached to the string, he bends his bow using his mouth. It is therefore a new sport that Guillaume Toucoullet practices, initially without a high level objective. But his appetite for competition and self-transcendence eventually catch up with him. In 2018, he participated in his first French indoor and outdoor archery championships. He won them and he hasn’t lost a single one since. Finally, after two years of refusing to join the French disabled archery team, he tried his luck in 2019.
