Gianni Infantino referees a match between workers, volunteers and football legends: “This sport unites the world”

Workers, supporters and volunteers from Qatar were invited to the game. “Football unites the world”, commented Gianni Infantino. Among the former players present were Brazilian Cafu, Englishman John Terry and Dutchman Clarence Seedorf. Infantino refereed for ten minutes and distributed two yellow cards.

Qatar has been widely criticized for its treatment of migrant workers, among others. Reports describing the inhuman living conditions and deaths of the workers shocked public opinion.
