German tennis star Boris Becker released in England, he has to leave the country | Tennis

Boris “Boem Boem” Becker, former number 1 in the world, who also won the Australian Open and the US Open twice, was declared bankrupt in 2017.

Becker, who has lived in the UK since 2012, failed to meet the obligations under UK bankruptcy law. For example, he concealed property worth more than 2 million euros from the curator.

Becker pleaded not guilty, but still had to go to jail for 2.5 years. Until today the Ministry of the Interior announced his release.

“For any foreigner who has been convicted of a crime and has received a prison sentence, deportation will be considered as soon as possible,” the Home Office said in a statement, without directly commenting on Becker’s case.

Becker is therefore expected to be deported from the country. Where he will go is not immediately known. In Germany, he was also sentenced to a suspended prison sentence in 2002 for tax evasion.
