Patricio Garino’s physical condition is of concern to Básquet Girona, or at least that’s what coach Aíto García Reneses hinted at in the press conference prior to Sunday’s match against Breogan (12.30) in Fontajau. Aíto has explained that neither yesterday nor today he will have trained and has almost ruled him out for the next game. Garino has suffered several physical problems since he arrived in the summer and even then he was coming from a long process of inactivity caused by injuries. “Last week he trained very well, but then we went to Vitoria and he told me he couldn’t,” said the coach, who was unable to explain specifically what the physical issue is affecting the Argentine. Asked if they consider a possible signing, he threw balls out.

Básquet Girona urgently arrives at the next day after adding a balance of 2/7 in the classification and having lost badly in Vitoria last weekend. “We had a mental breakdown”, said Aíto, who at least consoles himself because “at the break we were able to put the batteries back in place”. The coach hopes that a disconnection like that will not be repeated: “we had trained well, we are training well, but then we go out against Baskonia in that way”, he lamented. That’s why he expects the team to make a step forward on Sunday against a direct rival, although “we must not think that we have to lose against those at the top”.
