FVD member Van Meijeren probably in court in 2023 for running a red light | inland

The court will most likely postpone the criminal case against FVD MP Gideon van Meijeren on Friday. The MP initially had to appear in court on Friday because he drove his light moped through a red light while he did not have a valid driver’s license.

Van Meijeren’s lawyer has asked to postpone the case. The MP will probably have to go to court in March next year, although this is not yet certain.

Almost a year ago, Van Meijeren was arrested for driving his light moped through a red light. The FVD member also did not have a valid driver’s license at that time because it had been confiscated earlier after he refused to cooperate with a breathalyzer test. Van Meijeren says he did not want to do the breathalyzer test because he felt intimidated by the police.

Van Meijeren says he is not aware that he drove through a red light at the end of December last year. The MP also did not know that you are not allowed to ride a light moped without a driver’s license, but he acknowledges that he should have known that.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that the court has already postponed the criminal case to next year. The court will actually announce this on Friday.
