Rosa Alejandra Torres Monreal, from the state of Durango, attended the Classification Seminar, to be able to act as ITTF-PTT (Para Table Tennis) level 1 classifier (national classifier). This diploma course was held in Hermosillo, Sonora recently.

It is a certification endorsed by the ITTF (International Table Tennis Federation), in which table tennis athletes with physical disabilities are evaluated to determine according to their functionality, in which class they remain to compete in the tournaments in which that these athletes will participate.

Said seminar was given by the Argentine Cintia Mariño, international certifier who was in charge of giving this important theoretical-practical course, who came from South America to offer this academy, where the first days were the theoretical part, later within the 2022 Paranationals , the practical part was carried out classifying the athletes who participated in the 2022 Paranationals, ending with an exam to pass this course.

There are two types of classifiers, one medical and the other functional, both always have to be present in a classification, “in my case I was certified as a functional classifier, it was a seminar full of a lot of knowledge and not only seeing it from the side of the classifier, but also from the side as a coach since it helps us a lot to see other perspectives”, said Alejandra Torres.
