Domantas Sabonis injured, Kings still cursed?

Everything was going too well for the Sacramento Kings… Sixth in the Western Conference, the Californians are having a very good first half of the season, with a solid chance of playing in the playoffs for the first time in 16 years. Unfortunately, their most successful player since the start of the school year has just suffered a blow. Domantas Sabonissuffers from a right hand injury and will be sidelined indefinitely.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski d’ESPN, Sabonis will not be operated on immediately, but will first undergo additional examinations. There is a chance that the Lithuanian international could play despite this, but he won’t be 100% or fully operational immediately. We hope for the Kings that the one who had a good chance of being All-Star for the third time in his career, will not be absent for too long.

Since the start of the season, Sabonis has averaged 17.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 6.7 assists, with even greater consistency than he has shown since his arrival in Sacramento. Arvydas’ son had been traded for Tyrese Haliburton in a trade with the Indiana Pacers, where he had played until then.

It goes without saying that if Domantas Sabonis were to miss more than a month of competition, the Kings’ hopes of ending their terrible postseason streak would be drastically upset.

The 26-year-old is mentioned in Volume 2 of our MVP Race, outside the top 5, but performing well enough to be entitled to a bit of recognition.
