Coni, Sport Festival 2022

After a three-year hiatus, tomorrow 20 December it will take place in the IPC auditorium “N. Gallo” in Agrigento starting at 16.00, the sports festival, a traditional event organized by CONI of Agrigento for the delivery of CONI national merits for the year 2020 and the Provincial Awards reserved for sports clubs, managers, referees and registered athletes for the province of Agrigento who have achieved significant results for the 2021/2022 sports season.

National merits were awarded to:

BRONZE STARS FOR SPORTING MERIT:
to Piero Lentini for FILKAM and to Gaetano Marongiu for FIGC.

MEDAL FOR ATHLETIC VALOR
to IGNAZIO BONAVIRES – AUTOMOTIVE – ITALIAN SLALOM CHAMPION 2020 and to CALOGERO PIPARO – POWERBOAT – ITALIAN WATERCRAFT CHAMPION CL. SPARK 2020.

There will be 16 athletes awarded … all Italian champions, some of whom such as Irene Marturano (kumitè), Alex Maragliano (Kart racing), Emma Colletti (Kumitè), Giorgia Di Paola (Padel) and Alfonso Sortino (Pesca Sportiva – Surf Casting) have also obtained medals at the world and European championships.

Recognitions will also go to 11 sports clubs that during 2022 obtained promotions in a higher league such as ASD Fortitudo Agrigento and the ASD ATLETICO CANICATTI’ 5 both promoted to Serie A2 for basketball and futsal or won national or regional team titles.

For the managers and race judges section, the awards will go to:

  1. career:
    to Gerlando Trubbia and Daniele Calandrino for roller sports and Salvatore Contino for football referees
  2. for sports promotion to:
    Giuseppe Simone Vullo President of the ASD Il Discobolo of Sciacca and Stefano Spampinato President of the ASD Libertas 2000 of Agrigento

    During the event, three great sports personalities who died during the year will also be remembered: Salvatore Moncada – President of ASD Fortitudo of Agrigento, Aldo Cumbo – Meritorious Basketball Referee and Antonino Butera manager of Aragona Calcio and member of the Committee’s board Provincial of the FIGC of Agrigento.
