san antonio spurs beginner Blake Wesley approached a 20-point performance on Monday on a mission with the Austin Spurs in the NBA G League in a loss to the Delaware Blue Coats.
Wesley produced 19 points, three assists, two steals and a blocked shot in the 127-107 loss at the G League Winter Showcase in Las Vegas, Nevada. He went 5 of 16 from the field and 5 of 6 from the free throw line in 24 minutes.
The 25th pick appeared in his second game with Austin after missing six weeks with a 3rd year MCL left sprain. He looked a little rusty after struggling to get out of it, but he was active getting into the paint and finishing on the edge.

Wesley made his Austin debut on Friday, recording 12 points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal in a loss to the Mexico City Capitanes. He was on a 20-minute restriction in this contest as it was his first match since October 30.
He’ll play with Austin again on Wednesday to wrap up the team’s stay in Las Vegas, then likely join San Antonio on its road trip to New Orleans or Orlando. From there, Wesley could move back into the bench rotation.
The 19-year-old played two games for San Antonio before his knee injury. The upcoming roster will give him the opportunity to continue to recover from his injury and return to the pitch 100%.
