Bayern basketball players lose guest appearance at Zalgiris Kaunas

DThe basketball players of FC Bayern Munich suffered a setback in the Euroleague. The team of Italian coach Andrea Trinchieri lost 67:75 (35:44) to Zalgiris Kaunas from Lithuania on Friday evening. At the organizers of the Final Four next year, Corey Walden with 18 points and Augustine Rubit with 17 points were the most successful throwers for Munich, who had recently defeated Valencia BC. Bayern have only won five of their 15 games in the European premier class.

Although the Bavarians were able to balance the initial phase and were in the meantime also 28:26 in the lead. However, the guests couldn’t get a grip on Kaunas’ outstanding point guard Keenan Evans, who already contributed 21 points to the 44:35 break lead of the home side and ended up with 32 points. The deficit in front of the approximately 15,000 fans was twelve points at 48:60 before the last quarter, and coach Trinchieri’s team was unable to catch up.

For the weakened FC Bayern, it was the botched start of an away tour at the end of the year. After the stop in Lithuania, the Munich team continues in the Bundesliga with the MLP Academics Heidelberg (27th), before Partizan Belgrade (29th) is the next host in the Euroleague.
