While the ESL remained on a great victory against Vannes, it lost on Sunday to another direct competitor, CPB Rennes. It must be said that luck was not on his side, several players not having been able to make the trip. Without libero and without being sure of their strength, the Brestoises still fought a good fight.
An observation that is all the more “frustrating” for their coach, Guenaut Diverres. “We hoped to end the year well by hanging something here. But they were stronger than us today”.
Hope was allowed
The first two sets were hotly contested. On one side or the other, each balloon was returned and the rallies were linked. The Brestoises, on two occasions, managed to take the advantage in the middle of the innings without ever managing to widen a gap sufficient to protect themselves from the return of Rennes (2-0). For their selflessness, the Brestoises would have deserved to win a set. Hope was allowed at the start of the third set (2-7), before the locals inflicted an 8-0 (10-7) on them and raced back in the lead to end the match with a dry score.
