At Guingamp badminton, Goulven Brigant runs to make up for lost time – Guingamp

Four years after his left knee injury, in 2018, Goulven Brigant finally touched up a racket. “I missed it too much, I wanted to resume,” says the one who had to put badminton on hold. But the call from the field was too strong, those of conviviality with friends and the adrenaline of the competition too. So he plunged back by signing a new license at Guingamp badminton, where he had already played for six years.

Regional Objective 5

If he is one of the members of the club’s flag team, in Departmental 2, Goulven Brigant also multiplies the tournaments in singles on his side and in doubles with a friend. “I do it every weekend,” says the 25-year-old badminton player. I train on Monday and Wednesday at Guingamp. Then Thursday in Gévezé (35) where plays Romain, my doubles partner. And on the weekend, we go to a tournament.

Since the start of the season, the two acolytes have often stopped in the semi-finals before winning this Sunday. And in singles, Goulven Brigant devastated everything in his path by winning in Quimper, Retiers, Liffré, Gévezé and Le Relecq-Kerhuon. “As I have just taken up badminton again, I started competitions in Promotion 10. But here I am going to Division 7. It will be tougher, but I hope to arrive in Regional 5 for the end of the season”. Or two levels higher.

“Offensive and fast”

Hungry for matches, nothing stops Goulven, whose brother, Hugo, plays for Lanester, in this first part of the exercise. “I’m more of an offensive player and quick on the field, but handicapped by my size when moving from the baseline”.

An axis that he still has to work on, in particular to help Guingamp badminton to satisfy its ambitions. Because the season started perfectly with two victories against Ploubazlanec and Loudéac. “We will try to play the climb”, confides the original Bégarrois before the matches against Plélo and Quintin scheduled for Sunday. In club too, Goulven Brigant intends to make up for lost time.
