Assertive! FIFA Sanctions Four Angry Uruguayan Players

Al Wakrah

FIFA has strictly punished four Uruguayan national team players. The reason is because they go berserk and take actions that go too far.

This brutal moment occurred after Uruguay against Ghana on Friday (3/12/2022). At that time, Uruguay lost to Ghana which knocked them out of the 2022 World Cup.

Quoted from detikSportthe four players sanctioned by FIFA are Edinson Cavani, Jose Gimenez, Diego Godin, and Fernando Muslera.

It is known, in that match against Ghana, Uruguay only won 2-0. This result was not enough to qualify Uruguay for the last 16 of the 2022 World Cup. Uruguay was unable to compete with South Korea, who at the same time won over Portugal.

After the match, the Uruguayan players raged at the referee Daniel Siebert. The court judge was accused of costing Uruguay several times in terms of scoring goals. Because Uruguay can qualify for the last 16 if they win at least 3-0 over Ghana at Al Janoub Stadium.

The Uruguay players were seen protesting loudly at the 2022 World Cup referee. In fact, Cavani broke the VAR monitor when he was about to enter the stadium hallway.

The Uruguayan’s actions were later deemed ‘offensive behavior and violated the basic principles of fair play’ by FIFA. On Monday (5/12), FIFA dropped charges against them.

However, the FIFA charge did not specify a deadline. The Uruguay Federation is also threatened with fines, which FIFA also did not explain.
