Annual review 2022 – The ten most formative sporting events of the year in Klosterneuburg

Master Duchess

The year 2022 is perfect for the Klosterneuburg basketball players in the truest sense of the word. The BK ladies didn’t have to suffer a single defeat in national competitions and thus snagged the championship title in the women’s super league with a perfect season. The Zderadicka squad also strikes in the cup and secures the fourth title in a row. In the current season, the Duchess are still undefeated and on their way to the next cup and championship title.

The Duchess are still unstoppable and grab the title in the league and in the cup.

Fight for the league

The BK Dukes are having a terrible year. Under coach Chris O’Shea, the Klosterneuburg team can never reach their potential in the 21/22 season and have been struggling with painful failures, such as that of Predrag Miletic. In the end, the league succeeds after exciting duels against the Timberwolves. After a few weeks in the 22/23 season, the coach has to resign. With the Zeleznik/Hamidovic duo on the coaching bench, the Klosterneuburg team are finally feeling the upswing again and have been convincing with solid performances in the last few weeks of the year.

Tenth title in a row

The Sitting Bulls remain the measure of all things in domestic wheelchair basketball. Coach Andreas Zankl’s team isn’t always able to reach its potential over the course of the season, but it improves from round to round. After some exciting duels with the Flinkstones from Graz, the Sitting Bulls can celebrate their tenth title in a row at the end of the season. In the current season, the Klosterneuburgers are again the absolute favorite for the title.

historically good

In the 21/22 season, the FCK-Kicker coached by Mario Handl finally established themselves among the top teams in the North/Northwest regional league. The Klosterneuburgers have been playing for the championship title for a long time, are particularly convincing with their stable defense, but are also dangerous in goals. Only in the final laps, when the title is no longer within reach, does the team let up a bit. The 22/23 season is also going extremely well for the Klosterneuburg team, who overwintered just three points behind the title favorite Hohenau.

Teams in transition

In 2022, the men and women of the Indians are not quite able to match the successes of previous years, in part because the teams are in a state of upheaval. The women make it into the playoffs, but have to admit defeat to the Constables in the wild card round. For the men, the semi-finals are the end of the line, but the bronze medal is a conciliatory end. The second men’s team is meanwhile the great hope and plays in the FLA3 for the championship title.

Tradition returns

After a forced break of several years, the Klosterneuburg Advent Run, organized by the ULC Klosterneuburg, can finally go into its 24th edition this year. The run no longer takes place in the Obere Stadt, but around the Happyland, but is still a real running spectacle and is a worthy successor to the 23 previous editions.

success in the Bundesliga

Together with the Galaxy Tigers, the Judo Union Klosterneuburg forms a competition community with which you compete in the women’s Judo Bundesliga. The goals are clear: have nothing to do with the bottom third of the table and at the same time annoy the favorites. It works. The judokas can be completely satisfied with their fifth place in the final standings and it is already clear: they will be at the start again next year.

World Champion from Klosterneuburg

Jakob Heinreichsberger has been one of the strongest table football players in the country for years. This year, however, he crowned his numerous successes. As captain, he leads the national team at the Table Soccer World Cup in Nantes, France, to the most prestigious title of all: the world championship title in the team competition. He even stepped in as a coach at short notice and was also an important support for his team as a player.
