The Dutch hockey players also won their third game in the Pro Hockey League. In Santiago del Estero, northern Argentina, the team of national coach Paul van Ass won against Great Britain, just like a few days earlier. Where the game ended in 2-1 for the Orange on Tuesday, it was a convincing and big win on Friday evening, 6-0.

Great Britain put up a brave fight at the start of the match, got another chance after carelessly getting rid of goalkeeper Josine Koning, but not much later the Orange was firmly in control.

It didn’t take long for the first goal to be scored. Marijn Veen got the ball in the circle and with a hard backhand she struck for the 1-0.

Orange continues

The Netherlands then remained by far the parent, got quite a few chances and in the end it was Felice Albers who promoted an attack over several discs to 2-0.

The Netherlands stringed together the penalty corners, but only scored again when the ball was stopped incorrectly and then brought hard into the circle. Pien Sanders was then in the right place to tap into the 3-0.

When the halftime signal sounded, the Netherlands had entered the enemy circle no less than 21 times, Great Britain only twice. The odds ratio was also painful for the British team. The Dutch team shot twelve times on target in the first half, Great Britain twice.

Don’t slack off

Van Ass insisted at halftime that his team should not relax and continue on the same footing. That didn’t quite work out, because great opportunities failed to materialize in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter it was soon hit when Marente Barentsen was at the end of a nice attack and thus took care of the 4-0. Via goals from Veen and Lidewij Welten, the Orange ran further to 6-0.

Thanks to the victory, the Orange crawls to the top of the standings. Number two, the Netherlands has 9 points from three matches. Leader Argentina, which has already played six times, has 11 points. Tomorrow, the Netherlands will close a week of hockey in Argentina with a match against their home country. With a win in regular playing time, the Orange is the new leader.

Men later in action

Coming night, the Dutch men will also take on Great Britain in Argentina.

The team of national coach Jeroen Delmée is looking for revenge against the British, because two days ago the Orange lost 3-0 without a chance. Yesterday, Argentina lost after shoot-outs.
