Adam Scott takes control alone, Pierre Pineau in the race for a place at The Open

In the lead, Adam Scott will have to be wary of Adrian Meronk, author of two incredible consecutive cards and returned to a point from the head. Pierre Pineau (photo) signed a third card under par and remains in the top 10.

Adam Scott is well established at the head of its national Open. However, his first nine holes of the day were not the best of his very rich career. He thus chained eight pars before conceding his only bogey of the day on the 9th. But the return was much more pleasing with two birdies and especially an eagle at 18 to conclude this third round in 67 (-3).

At the same time, the leader of the first 36 holes, David Micheluzziflinched with his 73 (+3) disputed on the Victoria Golf Club and dropped to seventh place. This is not the case ofAdrian Meronk. The Pole returned a sumptuous 63 (-7) after his -6 the day before, including six birdies on the first eight holes, to come back to one point behind the leader.

Third at four strokes, the Australians Haydn Barron et Min Woo Lee are distanced.

Pierre Pineau continues on his way

Pierre Pineau keep learning very fast. Whoever plays only his third tournament on the DP World Tour after’Open the France (50th) last September and the inaugural event last week (48th) holds the rope here in Melbourne. The 23-year-old lined up a third under par this Saturday with a 69 (-1). He knew everything on this day with an eagle, four birdies but also five bogeys.

Installed in seventh position, it may seem a bit far for the victory (six shots), but the Habs have the podium synonymous with qualification for the next The Open within range (two points only).

Cameron Smith takes the door

Qualified narrowly for the third round, Cameron Smith failed to reverse the trend despite his 69 (-1) on the day. He is a victim of the second cut established this Saturday evening just like Ryan Fox or Rasmus Højgaard.
