4 bronzes and 1 silver in the Spanish Under-13 Championships – Andalusian Badminton Federation

Last weekend the Spanish Under-13 Championship took place in the Murcian municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas, in which Guillermo Muñoz (silver IM/bronze DM), Raúl Baena (bronze DM), Sandra Pastor stood out with medals (bronze DF) and Sara Arenas (bronze DF).

The IM left Muñoz (La Encina) as runner-up after getting through the groups defeating Marc Payà (21-2/21-5) and Iker González (21-9/21-10). In the round of 16 we had an Andalusian derby between Raúl Molina (Baena) and Guillermo Muñoz, who ended up taking the player from La Encina (12-21/21-15). Later he ensured his presence in the semis by beating Adrián Seijo (21-6 / 21-12) on the fast track and secured silver by defeating Martin Fenoll in three sets (21-8 / 17-21 / 21-12) . In the final, Muñoz was defeated by Raúl Hernández from Murcia in two sets (21-14/21-8).

Quarterfinals for Sandra Pastor and Sara Arenas at the IF

The female modality left our two Andalusians at the gates of the medal. Pastor (Arjonilla) defeated Naira Ribas (21-8/21-18) and Julia Muñoz (21-16/21-17) in groups, to reach the round of 16, where she beat Irati Baquedano (21-18/21-11 ) and stayed at the gates of bronze, losing to Inés Poncela (21-8/21-10). For her part, Arenas (Volante Rute), beat Aitana Tejeiro (21-8 / 21-15) and also Andalusian, from IES La Orden, Bárbara Martos (21-8 / 21-7) in the group stage. ). In the round of 16 she managed to beat Marta Iglesias (21-4 / 16-5 retired) and in the quarterfinals she was surpassed by Belén Soto (21-1 / 21-14), touching the third drawer of the podium in this way.

Molina and Muñoz (Baena/La Encina) began by defeating Julián Coll/Nicola Starace (21-6/21-8) and Iago Álvarez and Xoel Álvarez (21-15/21-15) in groups. In this way they managed to reach the quarterfinals, where they also got rid of Nil Leiva and Magno Salas in two games (9-21/21-14). And with third place secured, the Andalusians were defeated by Martin Fenoll and Pablo Sanz (21-13/21-17), later champions of the category.

Arenas and Pastor (Volante Rute/Arjonilla) slipped into the semifinals after beating both the couple formed by Laia Méndez and Daniella Ramírez (21-7/21-8) and the Andalusian duo from Málaga Evolution made up of Ester Iniesta and Aitana Tejeiro (21-15/21-10). In said semifinals they were defeated against Sara Sanjurjo and Belén Soto (12-21/22-20), finally hanging a commendable bronze medal.

And finally, in the DX only Guillermo Muñoz and Julia Muñoz (La Encina) made it to the final draw, defeating Julián Coll and María García in the round of 16 (21-18/21-7) and later losing in the quarterfinals with Raúl Hernández and Alicia Brao (21-14/23-21).
