Holland takes this giant to the World Cup

HE is already the greatest of the World Championships in Qatar!

At 2.03 meters, Holland goalkeeper Andries Noppert (28) is the longest player from all World Cup squads. The SC Heerenveen keeper is followed by two other fellow goalkeepers, Serbia’s Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (2.02 metres) and Belgium’s Thibaut Courtois (2 metres). Someone has to get past them first! The tallest outfield player at the World Cup is Australia defender Harry Souttar of Stoke City at 1.98m.

BILD reveals further show-off knowledge from the official Fifa statistics, with which you can shine at the World Cup regulars’ table in the coming weeks.

Oldest and youngest player

A Mexican and a German international! Mexico goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera is the oldest of all World Cup players. He will be 40 years and 63 days old at the start of the World Cup on Sunday. If he is used, he would only be the eighth player over 40 with a World Cup appearance.

DFB jewel Youssoufa Moukoko is more than 22 years younger. The BVB professional celebrates his 18th birthday on the day of the opening game – making him the youngest player in the tournament.

Club with the most World Cup stars

At the time of the nominations, the club with the most World Cup participants was FC Bayern! 17 players should represent the German record champions in Qatar. Due to the injury of Senegal star Sadio Mané (30/OP after a tendon rupture on the right fibula head) there are now 16 Bayern stars at the World Cup!

In addition to the Bayern block (Neuer, Kimmich, Goretzka, Musiala, Gnabry, Sané, Müller) in the DFB team, Cameroon (Choupo-Moting), Canada (Davies), Croatia (Stanisic), France (Coman, Hernández, Pavard, Upamecano), Morocco (Mazraoui) and Holland (de Ligt) stars from Munich in their ranks. So much to see for coach Julian Nagelsmann and his team!

With 16 players as well, FC Barcelona and Manchester City have just as many professionals at the World Cup.

WM-Müller
