Verstappen together with Rietveld and Benecke second in virtual 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps

Max Verstappen failed to win the virtual 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The Dutchman crossed the line in second, along with Jeffrey Rietveld and Maximilian Benecke on behalf of Team Redline. The win went to Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports. The race was held as part of the Le Mans Virtual Series, the World Endurance Championship (WEC) esports championship.

In the Team Redline car with start number 1, Verstappen took part in this virtual race in the LMP2 class. Benecke started the race from fifth place, but immediately had to give up a few places. It was up to Verstappen to make up for that deficit, but after contact with a car from the GTE class, the Red Bull driver ended up in the tire stack. Verstappen managed to get away without too much damage.

Finally it was Rietveld’s turn. The Dutchman was able to make up a few more spots, as Team Redline eventually crossed the line in second. James Baldwin drove to victory on behalf of Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports, along with Bono Huis and Graham Carroll. In the GTE class, the victory went to Team Redline, with starting number 71.

With second place, Team Redline was able to take over first place in the LMP2 class of the Le Mans Virtual Series. After three of the five races, the team that Verstappen is part of has collected 66 points. Floyd Vanwall-Burst is second with 52 points. The next virtual endurance race is scheduled for next month with the 4 Hours of Sebring. This is followed by the 24 Hours of Le Mans, on January 14 and 15.
