UNITED STATES.-The Major League Baseball Players Association voted to extend the contract of the executive director Tony Clark until 2027.
Clark, 50, who spent 15 years in the Big leagues primarily with the Tigers and Diamondbacks, helped negotiate the current labor agreement with the MLB. After several contentious months of negotiation, the MLBPA and the MLB They signed a new contract in March and salvaged the 162-game season.
The union confirmed Clark’s extension Tuesday. The five-year contract means Clark is in a position to lead the next deal. The current contract expires after the 2026 season.
Clark has had intense work in recent years. He helped guide the players through the 2020 season shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also helped the union add thousands of players after the minor leagues voted to join the MLBPA this year.
