The World Cup in 10 questions (2/10): Will Thibaut Courtois be voted the tournament’s best goalkeeper? (SURVEY)

Thibaut Courtois is currently living a two-sided season. If the Belgian goalkeeper is at the top of La Liga with Real Madrid thanks to his team’s ten victories in thirteen games, he still has not achieved the slightest clean sheet in the league. Andriy Lunin, who replaced him four times during his sciatica which kept him away from the field for a good part of October, managed to keep his net clean in two of the four games played.

The Madrid’s latest meeting was undoubtedly the most frustrating for the Red Devils goalkeeper: Courtois and his teammates were beaten for the first time this season in the league, on the Vallecano pitch (3-2), when the goalkeeper had saved a penalty … which then had to be withdrawn and which gave victory to Rayo.

In the Champions League, Thibaut Courtois came out a little better with two clean sheets, against Celtic Glasgow and against Leipzig, before conceding four goals in the return match against these two opponents.

Despite everything, Courtois remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world, as evidenced by his victory in the Yachine Trophy, crowning the best goalkeeper during the Ballon d’Or ceremony.

At the World Cup, the last bastion of 30 years will compete for the title of best goalkeeper of the tournament with players like Alisson Becker (Brazil), Manuel Neuer (Germany) or Hugo Lloris (France).
