The Island Corporation distinguishes the winners of the 2016 Badminton Cabildo Cup

The Noble Hall of the Cabildo welcomed yesterday [jueves 13] the awards ceremony of the Badminton Cabildo Cup 2016a competition organized by the Tenerife delegation of this modality in collaboration with the Island Corporation and the island’s clubs and town halls. The event was attended by the Minister of Sports, christ perez; and the vice president of the Canarian Badminton Federation, Florentin Rodriguez.

The 2016 Badminton Cabildo Cup consisted of a dozen events and had the participation of two hundred athletes of all categories representing the Universitario, Granadilla Badsur, Santa Úrsula Badnor, Badfor El Sauzal and Tenzul El Rosario clubs. The individual competition was attended by 96 players, while in doubles 91 couples took part in the different categories.

In the absolute individual competition, the victory went to Maria Guerrero (Granadilla Badsur) y Angel Alvarez (Tenzul El Rosario), who surpassed Lucia Socas (Granadilla Badsur) y Samuel Fares (University), respectively. In sub17, the title went to Victoria Castro (Tenzul El Rosario) and Ismael Melian (Granadilla Badsur), while the runner-up went to Ainara González (Granadilla Badsur) y Oscar Diaz (Granadilla Badsur).

In the sub13 category, the winners were Formerly Hernandez (Tenzul El Rosario) and Sergio Alonso (Granadilla Badsur), followed by Ayla Marrero (Granadilla Badsur) y Yeray Mesa (Badsur passion fruit). In the Senior A2 test, the victory went to Jonathan Dorta (Santa Úrsula Badnor) while the second place went to Juan Manuel Cortes (Tenzul El Rosario).

The 2016 Cabildo Cup doubles competition was very entertaining, with the victory in the absolute female category for Guerrero-Socas (Granadilla Badsur), who surpassed Barbuzano-Sintes (Badfor-Tenzul). In men, the winners were Alvarez-Garcia (Tenzul El Rosario), who imposed themselves on Garcia-Tarife (Badnor-Universitario), while the mixed doubles title went to Alvarez-Castro (Tenzul El Rosario), ahead of Garcia-Socas (Badnor-Badsur).

In the sub13 category, the winners were Marrero-Socas (Granadilla Badsur), while the runner-up went to the Ramos-Rodríguez couple (Tenzul El Rosario). In masculine, Alonso-Mesa (Granadilla Badsur) took the title ahead of García-Torres (Granadilla Badsur), while in mixed doubles the first place went to Alonso Marrero (Granadilla Badsur) and the runner-up for Table-Socas (Granadilla Badsur).
