The Badminton Albatros adds points for the national ranking in Moral de Calatrava

On Saturday, October 29, 2022, a new TOP TTR Tournament was held at the Municipal Pavilion of Moral de Calatrava (Ciudad Real), scoring for the national Badminton ranking, to which two members of the Albatros Badminton Sports Club traveled. On this occasion they would compete in the Absolute category, being them José Luis Martín and Marcos Córdoba, the latter still in the Sub19 category.

The two participating Albatross had disparate results, but always giving everything on the playing court and competing for all the points in each of the matches they have played.

In the Men’s Absolute Individual modality, Marcos Córdoba qualified in his previous group, moving on to the final table, to also win his round of 16 match against Ángel Flores, a local player from Moral de Calatrava, not being able to access the semifinals after losing his quarterfinal match against Gustavo López, an Andalusian player from Club Bad-Flay, in three very even sets, the third going 22-20 in favor of the Andalusian, thus finishing Marcos Córdoba in a creditable fifth place in the tournament; on the other hand, José Luis Martín, in the same category and modality, was framed in a very complicated group, one of his opponents being Miguel Serrano from Albacete, ultimately the winner of the tournament, not being able to go from the group stage to the table major.

Marcos Córdoba and José Luis Martín would also compete in the Absolute Men’s Doubles modality, with eight couples registered, finishing in the fifth final position.

Another day where the athletes of the Albatros Badminton Sports Club are accumulating experience, in addition to a good handful of points for the national ranking.

The next stop of the Albatros Badminton Sports Club will be on Saturday, November 12, this time performing as “locals” in the II Open of Badminton of the University of Castilla-La Manchaopen to federated and non-federated members, in which registration is still open until next Monday, November 7, and in which the Albatros Badminton Sports Club itself collaborates in its organization, in addition to the Castilla-La Mancha Badminton Federation.
