Moroccan champions AS Salé will try to reach the final stages of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for the third consecutive season, during the playoffs scheduled for November 14-19 in Abidjan. The Corsairs must be among the top three in the Western Division, which is itself split into two groups. Explanations.

After playing the first two seasons of the Basketball Africa League, AS Salé intends to do it again this year, but will have to go through the playoffs to access the African tournament, the result of collaboration between the NBA and FIBA ​​Africa. It is moreover in the premises of the latter in Abidjan that the draw for the playoffs took place. The representatives of Morocco inherited Group A of the West Division, alongside Abidjan Basket Club, Elan Coton (Benin) and Bangui Sporting Club (Central African Republic). While in Group B, there are FAP (Cameroon), SLAC (Guinea), Stade Malien (Mali) and Nueva Era (Equatorial Guinea). The qualifying tournament is scheduled for November 14-19 in Abidjan. The first two of each group compete in the semi-finals. The finalists and the team ranked third at the end of the tournament will qualify for the final phase of the BAL, scheduled for spring 2023. In the Eastern Division, whose qualifying tournament will take place from November 22 to 27 in Johannesburg, group A includes teams from Cape Town Tigers (South Africa), NBA Academy Africa, Ururani BBC (Burundi) and Kenya Port Authority (Kenya). While Group B is made up of Ferroviario da Beira (Mozambique), Cobra Sports (South Sudan), City Oilers (Uganda) and COSPN (Madagascar). The six qualified teams from both divisions will join defending champions US Monastir (Tunisia), Petro Luanda (Angola), Al Ahly (Egypt), Rwanda Energy Group (Rwanda), AS Douanes (Senegal) and champions Nigeria.
