The board of a shooting club in Heerhugowaard has canceled the lease of another shooting club that used their facilities. The reason is the disappearance of a number of weapons from the safe of that association.

According to the police, this is a serious matter, NH Nieuws writes. Investigations are being conducted by the Chief of Police Tasks team, the police department that issues firearms possession permits and oversees permit holders.

The weapons disappeared from the safe at the end of May. After the police found out, all weapons belonging to the association were confiscated and the permits revoked. According to NH News, it concerns three or four weapons.

‘No bowling club’

The association whose rent has now been canceled is SV All Rounds. In a conversation with the regional broadcaster, board member Piet Otto says that it is an administrative misunderstanding. According to him, the weapons from his association’s safe were resold by him and the police were aware of this. When asked why a missing person report was filed, he had no clear answer.

The renting party, SV De Heerhugowaard, strongly doubts that statement. “In our experience, the chief of police always works adequately and meticulously. Administrative errors are completely foreign to us. The building is very well secured and everything that goes in and out is kept in a logbook. We are not a bowling club.”

Due to the termination of the lease, All Rounds is in danger of disappearing. The forty members are given six months to find a new association. The board of the shooting club has engaged a lawyer to challenge the decision.
