Nelly Korda doubles, Pauline Roussin-Bouchard in the top 20 will not go to the final

In a very good battle with Lexi Thomson, Nelly Korda pulled out all the stops to win the Pelican Women’s Championship for the second consecutive year, and at the same time take back the world’s first place.

With six players in too many points, the last round promised to be tight. He will have kept all his promises with a magnificent duel.

Two players and not the least broke off halfway through: Lexi Thomson et Nelly Korda.

The two American major winners went blow for blow all day. Finally, Nelly Korda, winner of a spectacular play-off last yearoutstripped his compatriot by signing a sumptuous card of 64 (-6) marred only by a bogey at 18.

It is the eighth career success on the LPGA of the 24-year-old Floridian, the first for a year and it allows her to recover the world crown at the 19 year old thai girl Atthaya Thitikulabsent this week.

It’s a nice revenge for the American who had a complicated season. Indeed, after having started the season in first place in the world, it was first stopped by the Covid at the end of January before of being the victim of a thrombosis in the arm in March keeping him away from the fairways for long weeks.

Already beaten in the play-off last year after losing the victory at the 72nd hole, Lexi Thomson fails for the fourth time this season in second place. She has not lifted a trophy since June 2019 and will still have to wait to win her twelfth LPGA title.

Allisen Corpuz on the podium

In the lead before this last lap, Alice’s Body will not have succeeded in keeping up with the pace of the two stars. She still climbs on the third step of the podium.

With her superb 64 (-6) without error, the Swiss Morgane Metraux signs her best career performance by taking a good fourth place shared with the Australian Hannah Green and the Mexican Gaby Lopez.

Thanks to this performance, Morgane Métraux joined the top 100 overall in the last tournament of the season, and thus kept his card for next season.

In the top 5 after 36 holes, the Mexican Maria Fassi (7th, +1 this Sunday), the Swedish Maya Stark (10th, +2) and the Spaniard Carlotta Ciganda (13th, +2) missed out on this last lap.

Pauline Roussin-Bouchard too fair

Best Frenchwoman this week Pauline Roussin-Bouchard was aiming for a very good result to hope to climb into the top 60 of the general and win her ticket for the season finale scheduled for next week at the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida .

20th before starting the third and final round of a tournament reduced to 54 holes due to tropical storm “Nicole”Alain Alberti’s protege was close to accomplishing her mission.

Passed in 33 on the way the winner of Didrikson’s Skaftö Open on the LET flirted with a 4th top 10 of the season after his 5th birdie of the day at 14.

Unfortunately, the former student at the University of South Carolina faltered at the end and saw her efforts destroyed with a bogey on 16 and a fatal double on 18.

Author of a card of 69 (-1), she finally had to settle for 17th place, and for her first season on the LPGA 69th overall.

Part of 10, Celine Boutier got off to a good start in this third and final round, being -2 after six holes. But the rest proved to be more complicated for the 13th player in the world. Conceding four bogeys in 12 holes, Boutier ends her week with a 72 (+2) which sends her back to the bottom of the ranking (62nd).

She will have the opportunity to erase this poor performance on Thursday since she will be the only tricolor representative at the start from an exciting CME Group Tour Championship.
