Polish goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski seriously injured and forfeited for the World Cup

Polish goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski seriously injured his right ankle on Sunday with his club La Spezia, against Hellas Verona in Serie A, and is forfeited for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the Italian team announced.

With two selections, the 25-year-old goalkeeper is one of the understudy of Poland’s starting goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny (Juventus).

Dragowski seriously injured his ankle when he tackled Verona striker Kevin Lasagna outside his penalty area just before half-time of the game counting for the 15th day of Serie A. At the sight of his deformed ankle , all the players quickly called the healers, before the goalkeeper came out on a stretcher.

Poland, led by Robert Lewandowski, will face Mexico (November 22) then Saudi Arabia (November 26) and Argentina (November 30) in Group C.
