NHL | NY Rangers – Detroit 2:3 PP, Kubalík made a big turnaround for Detroit, the Rangers are furious

The NY Rangers’ duel with Detroit brought a battle between four Czech hockey players. Libor Hájek and Filip Chytil faced Kubalík and Hronko. The pair from Rangers had a better start to the match, watching the goals of Kaap Kakka and Mika Zibanejad in the first period and enjoying a 2-0 lead.

The Red Wings tied it during the second period. In the 23rd minute, Matt Luff scored and forward Pius Suter scored the equalizer after Dylan Larkin’s shot. Before Sutter, Larkin’s shot was also blocked by Hronek, whose attempt was blocked by Jaroslav Halák in the Rangers goal.

The decisive goal was scored in overtime in a four-on-three power play. At the end of Detroit’s quick combination was Kubalík, who lurked at the back post and cleared the puck into the open goal after David Perron’s pass. However, the goal was preceded by a much-discussed situation during Detroit’s penetration into the offensive zone, when Kubalík apparently took the puck in an offside position, but the linesman’s whistle remained silent. The winning goal was scored soon after, and the home goalkeeper Jaroslav Halák angrily split his hockey stick against the goal structure.

However, Detroit won for the third time in a row and moved into fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Rangers have collected one less point and are eighth. The Carolina hockey players did not use the opportunity to move to second place, as they lost to Toronto on their own ice and failed for the first time after four wins. John Tavares scored the Maple Leafs’ winning goal in the middle of the third period.

Florida with Radek Gudas defeated Anaheim 5:3 and is seventh in the Eastern Conference table. Defensive back Brandon Montour led the Panthers’ win with four points. Gudas played just over 20 minutes and did not respond in the match.
