LeBron James competing with Kevin Durant in the project of his dreams?

Longtime rival of LeBron James on the NBA courts, Kevin Durant is also trying to stand up to him on the business plan. As such, he could walk on the King’s flowerbeds by performing a move that makes the latter salivate!

Given their current level, retirement will still have to wait. Respectively aged 37 and 34, LeBron James et Kevin Durant don’t plan to hang up the sneakers anytime soon. This does not prevent them from carefully preparing their future, and displaying big ambitions for their post-career. It turns out that the two stars have the same great future goal.

Kevin Durant and LeBron James battling for a team

A few weeks ago, when the Lakers visited Las Vegas, LeBron clearly revealed its desire to buy the franchise that could be created there in the years to come. He could, however, have to deal with competition… from Durant. Subject of a recent interview with Scott Davis for InsiderRich Kleiman, KD’s business partner, openly revealed that the Slim Reaper also dreams of such a conversion:

Of course, thoroughly. Kevin will clearly have plenty of opportunities to be associated with NBA teams and franchises in the future, and he should remain close to the league his entire life. I hope it will be my case too. And I hope that the business that we have been building for years will allow us to be in a position one day to be able to have the chance to buy an NBA franchise.

To date, the personal fortune of Durant would amount to approximately 200 million dollars according to the specialized site Wealthy Gorilla. He will therefore necessarily have to join forces with other wealthy investors to achieve the objective he has set with Kleiman. The latter affirms in any case that the star of the Nets will not be satisfied with a role of representation, and that he will necessarily wish to have a great decision-making power:

I think whatever level you end up at, having the power in a franchise is what’s really appealing. I would love to be able to operate as the CEO of an NBA franchise, and I’m sure Kevin would love to be able to control things from an operational standpoint, and build a squad. But I think that’s the dream of a lot of people right now.

A direct reference to LeBron, whom Kleiman quoted directly afterwards, regarding the Lakers leader as a useful trailblazer for Durant:

I think if LeBron gets what he wants in Vegas, it will open the door even more for Kevin to step into. And then, you know, we’ve already laid the groundwork for this project, we have the appropriate contacts, and we’re doing what needs to be done behind the scenes.

Both committed to becoming NBA leaders at the end of their playing careers, will LeBron James and Kevin Durant end up fighting a new battle? Not so sure, since KD would certainly settle for the future Seattle franchise!
