Kyoto’s culture and art gather at the Reiwa Expo 2005 held in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City

An event is being held at the Yasaka Club in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, to liven up the world, which has stagnated due to the corona wreck, with the power of Kyoto’s culture and art. This “Reiwa Kyoto Exposition” is modeled after the “Kyoto Exposition” held from the Meiji to the Showa eras to revitalize stagnant Kyoto after the capital moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. Kyoto’s traditional culture and arts were presented one after another on the stage, and the next head of the Ikenobo School of Flower Arrangement, Ikenobo, took the stage with the men of flower arrangement, IKENOBOYS. The audience applauded when IKENOBOYS completed a powerful yet elegant pair of ikebana on the left and right in a style called “ceremonial ikebana” using pine trees and weeping willows as flower materials. Violinist Sumire Hirotsuru also made an appearance and performed six songs, including “My Favorites,” with rich tones. Then, when Ms. Yachiyo Inoue, a Living National Treasure of Kyomai Inoue, danced the jiuta “Kannawa”, the audience was fascinated by her suppleness. Kyogen and Noh will also be shown at this event, which will be held from 2:00 pm on the 20th, and tickets will be available on the day.
